ROY SILVERS MEMORIAL OPENS MONTH OF MAY AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY

Buckley’s Tire and Brake to sponsor the first point paying show of 2024.

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Dundee, NY) After a month of April in 2024 that was filled with rain, cold temperatures and even a few slow flurries, Outlaw Speedway owner, Tyler Siri and his staff are ready to roll up their sleeves, switch the calendar to May and begin the tracks sixty-seventh consecutive year of action with the first full point paying show of the 2024 campaign.

“We had everything in place for a good April schedule, claimed Siri.  The surface weathered the winter very well, all our off-season improvements were completed, all my staff was in place, and we were set up for no less than two very high-profile events to kick off the season in the Lucas Oil Nationals and the Cal Lane Memorial.  Unfortunately, Mother nature took care of both, however we did get in the Mike Jackson Memorial albeit under some frigid conditions, but the surface was in fabulous condition which is going to set us up for the rest of the year.”

The Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds will headline the Super 5 Show where the winner of the thirty-five-lap feature will walk away with a check for $3067.

The winner of the Sunrise Insulation/Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Sportsman feature will take home $2,067.

In Swarthout Recycling Street Stock feature action the victors’ spoils totals $1,567.

Rounding out the card will be the NAPA Hobby Stocks and the Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks each racing for $1.067 to win their respective feature events.

Sponsoring the Annual Roy Silvers Memorial will be Buckley’s Tire and Brake of Horseheads, NY.

Jody Buckley is a racer himself competing in the tough pavement Modified division throughout the northeast and he knows full well the value of marketing his company through Motorsports.

Roy Silvers, who the event is named in memory of was a successful Elmira, NY businessperson operating a used car lot for decades.  Through his business, Slivers Used Auto Sales, Roy was a huge marketing partner of several local race venues including the Outlaw Speedway where he could be seen in attendance most every race night cheering on his son, Hollywood Chris Silvers who was a standout competitor in the Crate Sportsman Division.

Unfortunately, Roy was taken from us too soon in life after a hard -fought battle with Covid19 on December 1, 2020.  Roy was just sixty-six years old, but his memory still lives on at the Outlaw Speedway as he will be recognized with a night in his name on Friday, May 3, 2024.

The Outlaw Speedway offers a pair of watering holes including the Grandstand Seating Turn 4 Tavern as well as the Pit Area Outlaw Saloon with both carrying a wide selection of iced cold beer.

New for 2024 is the Outlaw Speedway Infield Fan Experience which is open for all paid Main Grandstand Seating spectators offering a unique perspective of the Fast 4/10 of a mile clay oval.

Located right in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York, the Outlaw Speedway is on Rt. 14a in Dundee, NY.

Just a short drive from Seneca Falls, Geneva, Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, Corning/Elmira and Bath/Hammondsport.

Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modified and Sunrise Insulation/Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Sportsman teams are reminded that they can use any compound American Racer Tire for the first three shows in May 2024.  After that the mandatory 44/48 minimum hardness American Racer Tire combination goes into effect for the remainder of the 2024 season.
