Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY, (February 12, 2013)- Over the years, Black Rock Speedway has been well-known for ground-breaking races with incredible purses.  Coming this November will be a new race that will redefine the limits of a division and conclude the 2013 season on an incredible high note.

On Saturday November 9, Black Rock Speedway will host the first annual Crate Classic, a 200-lap race with a unique format and qualifying procedure; what is also unique though is the amount of money that it pays out.  The race will pay a whopping $4,000-to-win, but perhaps just as impressive will be the fact that it will hand out $400 to each starter.

The race will be 200 laps counting caution laps up until 10 laps to go.  There will not be any red flags for refueling either, meaning that teams will either need to make rapid pit stops under caution or find a way to save fuel throughout the event.

The top five drivers in 2013 Black Rock Speedway Hoselton Automall Sportsman points will be guaranteed starters in this event.  In addition, one driver that pre-enters BEFORE October 1 will be drawn at random as a guaranteed starter.  Registration must be received before October 1 to be considered on time. The registration form is available on the BRS website in the Pit Area tab under Forms.  The pre registration price is just $40, a savings of $20 off of the $60 fee for those registering after October 1.

The midday event will start off with time trials locking in the two fastest.  From there, six heats and three B-Mains will be used to qualify another 24 competitors. For many of these teams, they will be part of the large redraw process that will be used to start the event. The field for the start of the Crate Classic will swell to upwards of 30 total starters with some final chances given.

After the completion of the B-Mains, a last-chance qualifier (LCQ) will be held to punch the final two tickets into the 200-lap event.  This will be comprised of those not yet qualified that finished sixth through tenth in 2013 BRS Sportsman points, any driver that ran all three of the following events at BRS: March 30, June 16 and October 25 or drivers that won designated qualifying races throughout the year starting with the March 30 event and including at least nine other events at six different area fascilities .  The lineup for this LCQ will be based off of the B-Main finishes.

This event will without a doubt be highly competitive, but novice teams should not fear as there will also be a Novice Sportsman 25-lap feature on the day.  There will be no entry fee for this race, which will be lined up based on time trial results.

Even though the Crate Classic will conclude the sportsman season in the Northeast, the final race at BRS on that day will be the 5th Annual “Big One Enduro” 100-lap event.  This race will once again pay $5,000-to-win and utilize the same registration process at the Crate Classic.  One notable change in that race’s format this year is that the first three starting spots will be drawn at random amongst the pre-entries for this annual season send-off.

More information about this exciting event will be forthcoming as the 2013 race season draws near.  The first event of the season is just weeks away, taking place on March 30 with the 2013 Rock Launcher.  For more information, visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com.
