Black Rock’s Rock Launcher Lost to Rain, Sportsman 50-Lapper Moved to This Friday Night

Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY, (July 28, 2013)- For the second time this season, the “Rock Launcher” event at Black Rock Speedway has been lost to rain.

Persistent precipitation Sunday Morning plus impending showers forced BRS management to cancel the Mid-Season Rock Launcher.  This event was conjured when the original Rock Launcher, slated for March 30, was knocked out by weather as well.  This edition had swelled to 11 features due to the June 23rd event being unable to complete four features.  While the event will not be rescheduled, those four races have been.

The 50-lap sportsman event that was set to kick off the action on Sunday will now lead off this Friday’s race program.  All of the weekly Black Rock divisions, including the sportsman, will run their standard show following what is sure to be a hotly-contested event.  Donnie Lawson is the current division point leader and has a prime starting spot for this high-paying event.

The make-up features for the RWD and FWD 4-cylinders will now be held on August 16th.  Those classes were unable to run their make-up events this Friday as they will be battling on a road course set up throughout the BRS infield.  Current Signs Plus of Kanona 4-Cylinder point leader James Kreidler III busted on to the scene last year in the road course event, dominating this very different event.

The Greg’s Auto Body Bonus Money Street Stock race that was suspended at lap 14 back in June will now have to wait until October 26 when many of the competitors will be in town for the Empire 100 event as part of Dutch Hoag’s National Open.  Unlike the sportsman and 4-cylinder classes, the competitors that were in the street stock field back in June have other commitments on Friday’s and so this was the only suitable date. A great three-way battle for that championship becomes the focal point once again with Jeremy Potzrebowski now atop the standings over Dylan Cecce and Rich Sharpsteen II.

As the Mid-Season Rock Launcher has been eliminated, at this point so too have been the IMCA Empire State Series and CRSA 305 Sprint Races that were scheduled.  The IMCA Modifieds will of course return this Friday with Jake Maynard and Rich Karlnoski tied at the top of the standings.  Phil Yaw is just six points back.

Back for the first time since their BRP CanAm Series race back in early July will be the late models.  Bruce Miller leads the points with past champions Jason Knowles and Joh Waters within striking distance. Along with the return of the Late Models will be the annual School Teacher Enduro.  This will be a good opportunity for youngsters to perhaps see the ways their teachers have fun during summer break.  It is sure to be a Night of Class.  Race time is set for 6:45 P.M.  For more information, visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com
