OUTLAW SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES CLASS SPONSORS FOR 2024

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Dundee, NY) The 2024 season at the Outlaw Speedway is becoming clearer as track owner, Tyler Siri recently announced the class sponsors for the upcoming season.

Since purchasing the facility from the late Dean Hoag nine years ago, Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram of Penn Yan, NY has been the headline sponsor of the Outlaw Speedway Modified Division.

Friendly’s involvement at the popular Yates County oval runs deep as sales representative, Rodney Cole has become a household name and a weekly visitor at the Dundee, NY facility.

To better promote Friendly CDJR, Cole brings at least one and sometimes several classy looking vehicles from the company’s large inventory of new and used cars, trucks and SUVs to the track each race night for fans to view and make a deal.  In addition to sponsoring the premier Modified Division at the track, Friendly is also one of the sponsors of Team Siri Racing which features a fleet of front line Modifieds.  Friendly also has billboard signage and frequently sponsors nights of competition along with the highly visible Outlaw Speedway Victory Lane located right in front of the main grandstand seating section.  For a complete look at Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram go to www.myfriendlyauto.com.

In addition to Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram’s involvement at Outlaw Speedway, Sunrise Insulation of Dundee is also a huge player in the sponsorship of the American Racer 602 Crate Sportsman Division.

For 2024, Sunrise Insulation will tag team with Knapp and Schlappi Lumber of Penn Yan and Dundee to market the American Racer Tire Sportsman which features a spec 602 Chevrolet power plant strapped between the pipes of a chassis of the teams choosing.

Sunrise Insulation owner, Tim Gibson has been a main stay at Outlaw going back to the 1980’s when he assisted former track promoter, Steve Wetmore prior to Lin and Cindy Hough taking control of the facility.  Working at the track in various capacities, Gibson was a former driver himself in both Modified and Pro Truck competitions before focusing his attention on his son’s high school football career when he took a sabbatical from racing.

Now back and full speed ahead, Sunrise Insulation logged on several seasons ago with the American Racer Tire 602 Sportsman Division as the divisions main sponsor and it does not stop there as Sunrise Insulation also sponsors the start/finish line at the Fast 4/10 of a mile clay oval with a sign that asks, Got Foam?  For more info log on at www.sunriseinsulation.com.

Knapp and Schlappi Lumber is a well-respected and continually growing organization, having started well over half a century ago at a small hillside location in the Town of Barrington just south of Penn Yan.  From there K and S Lumber has moved into a new state of the art facility located on Rt. 54 right on the northern shore of Keuka Lake and as the business has gotten more popular with local contractors as well as the do it yourselfers so has the size of the facility.  Knapp and Schlappi family member, Steve Perry is a former driver himself and like so many other successful businesspeople, Perry recognizes the value of marketing through Motorsports. Loyal K and S Lumber employee, Jack Ayers who is part of the famed Ayers Family Race Team of Dundee may not race much these days, but like Perry, Ayers will also be found periodically in the Outlaw Speedway pit area rubbing elbows and talking shop all the while supporting his son, Brent’s 602 Sportsman operation.

Approximately five seasons ago, a pair of NAPA Auto Parts Stores joined forces to sponsor the Hobby Stock Division at Outlaw Speedway.  The Addison NAPA Store, Main Street in downtown Addison, NY along with a trio of Nate Dunning owned NAPA store locations in Corning, Hornell and Wellsville have now become the main sponsor for the competitive Hobby Stock Division.  Mike Bills and his son Brayden are both semi-retired feature winning Modified drivers and the family recently took possession of the Addison NAPA from former long -time owner, Vera Eaker.  The Bills family has done an overhaul of the facility which not only specializes in those great NAPA parts, but Mike Bills is an accomplished rebuilder of automatic transmissions, quick change rear ends and shock absorbers.  In addition, the Addison NAPA specializes in high performance bolt on parts for Modified and Sportsman applications from such companies as Bicknell and Behrent’s.  Dunning is also a former Mini Stock and Street Stock wheelman but gave up the driving chores years ago to focus on ownership of his group of NAPA Auto Parts Stores which keeps him plenty busy.  Dunning NAPA is also the primary sponsor of the 2023 Outlaw Speedway Modified Track Champion, Cory Costa.  Dunning is still a young guy in life with a growing family, but do not be surprised when the time comes for him to further expand his organization to more than just three locations.  All four NAPA locations offer delivery service and hours may vary from location to location.  For more information Addison and the Dunning NAPA locations can be found on Facebook.

The Winners Circle Deli, Main Street in downtown Dundee will return for their ninth season as sponsor of the 4 Cylinder Mini Stock Division which is a mixture of both front and rear wheel driven 4 cylinder creations and the class provides plenty of excitement with a multitude of different faces gracing victory lane on an annual basis and you have to go back into the record books to find a repeat track champion, the class is super competitive.  Since joining forces with Outlaw Speedway, Winner’s Circle Deli provides weekly sandwich platters for the nightly sponsor booths and those in attendance just love the variety of scrumptious meat and cheese selections all delivered on fresh rolls.  The Winner’s Circle Deli located at 20 Main Street in Dundee, NY and offers an in-house delicatessen, fresh soups, breakfast sandwiches, salads, subs, chili, fresh coffee and donuts   Winner’s Circle Deli also offers top notch catering services for any occasion.  For more information, including hours of operation, go to Facebook.

Lee Fritz Masonry will return to Outlaw Speedway in 2024 to once again attach the company’s name to the Youth Bandit Division.  History will show that many of the top names in northeast racing circles have come through the Frita Masonry Outlaw Speedway Bandit Division dating back to when the upstart youth class was first instituted by then track owners, Lin and Cindy Hough.  The Fritz Masonry Bandits compete as part of the Super 5 Show at Outlaw and the kids, piloting Mini Stocks really put on a great show for the fans whenever they take to the Fast 4/10 of a Mile Oval.  Since taking over as the headline sponsor of the class, Lee Fritz presents each track champion with a gift certificate at the Annual Awards Banquet which does not jeopardize their amateur status as the kids compete only for trophies, plaques and bragging rights.

Last but certainly not least, Swarthout Recycling of Beaver Dams, NY will attach their company name to the highly popular and super competitive Street Stock Division. Swarthout Recycling is a name synonymous with the buying and selling of both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap steel along with being recognized as the region’s largest dealer of rental roll off containers for every application including home and business cleanouts, teardowns and scrap steel reclamation.  In addition, Swarthout Recycling is also licensed in asbestos abatement and can legally tear down any size building with proper disposal of all material.  Also, Swarthout Recycling has a Mobile Document Shred Truck that comes right to your location and finely shreds and disposes of your unwanted legal documents.  Finally, and new to their arsenal, Swarthout now offers Crane Service where licensed crane operators can manage all your heavy lifting needs.  For more information log on at www.swarthoutrecycling.com.

On a weekly basis, Outlaw Speedway hosts some of the top Street Stock drivers in the region all competing in their classy looking creations.  A combination of both youth and veterans litters each week’s feature starting line-up and with the talent level as such it has become a who’s who list of drivers visiting victory lane.

“I am extremely fortunate at Outlaw Speedway to have a great line-up of impressive class sponsors, stated track owner, Tyler Siri.  Every one of the partners really looks forward to marketing their respective divisions and we make sure they all get tons of exposure every race night on the tracks PA System and our Facebook account.  In addition, every class sponsor is mentioned in all pre-event press releases that go out as well as any full race stories that are distributed to the working media and other forms of social media.  Overall, it is a great relationship between the sponsors, the track and all the competitors.”
